Candy Corn Rice Krispy Treats

Time to take another quick break from real estate to celebrate the season. I love, love, love fall and I love baking with my 3 year old, especially holiday treats. If you have ever baked with a 3 year old you know it's got to be a quick and easy recipe and what could be easier than Rice Krispy Treats? I also want to mention that Rice Krispy Treats are one of the number one things that taste better made at home than bought at any store.
Here's a recipe for quick and easy Rice Krispy Treats shaped and colored to look like yummy candy corns. Beware they go fast!

Candy Corn Rice Krispy Treats

Yellow Section
2¼ c. rice krispies cereal
1¾ c. mini marshmallows
1½ tsp butter
12 drops yellow food coloring

Orange Section
2 c. rice krispies cereal
2¼ c. mini marshmallows
1 tbsp butter
10 drops yellow food coloring
3 drops red food coloring

White Section
1 c. rice krispies cereal
1½ c. mini marshmallows
1 tsp butter

Take an 8" round cake pan and spray it with cooking spray.
Start with the yellow section. In a medium size pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add in the marshmallows and stir with a rubber spatula until they have melted. Drop in the food coloring and stir until color is evenly distributed. Remove from heat and add the Rice Krispies, stir until well coated. Pour the mixture into the cake pan, spray your hands with cooking spray and spread the mixture to the edge of the pan creating an orange ring.
Next the orange section. Follow the directions for the yellow section and mold the mixture into a ring inside the yellow ring. This will be your widest section.
Lastly the white section. Again, follow the directions for the yellow section, minus the food coloring, and press the mixture into the hold in the center of the pan.
Let the Rice Krispy Treats cool completely, approx. 30 min. Remove the treats from the pan, onto a cutting board and cut just like you would a pie into 8 equal triangular slices. You can than serve them or wrap them up in clear packaging for gifts.
